AmeriCorps
Volunteer Infrastructure Program
The Volunteer Infrastructure Program focuses on nonprofit organizations that serve low-income children and families. We train and coach AmeriCorps members in the best practices of volunteer recruitment and management, and place them within nonprofits to improve existing volunteer programs. Even as nonprofit budgets shrink, adding volunteer support can enable nonprofits to sustain their services for families and children.

The Volunteer Center of the East Bay is pleased to announce its plans to continue the Volunteer Infrastructure Program in 2012/2013, starting on August 22, 2012. Over the past 36 months, the program has achieved a 16-35% increase in volunteer program capacity at partner nonprofits and recruited 6,000+ volunteers.
If you represent an East Bay nonprofit organization that would like to participate, please review the letter and RFP below.

WHAT PARTICIPATING ORGANIZATIONS SAY ABOUT OUR PROGRAM:
Working with an Americorps member has allowed us to use volunteers in ways that we never imagined before. Our organization always used volunteers to some extent, but Erin has created the infrastructure we never had the time to create. Now we have clear system and documentation. Handling our volunteer needs will be much easier now.
- Brianna Burkman, Manager of Fundraising and Special Projects
Opportunity Junction
I cannot say enough about the AmeriCorps VIP program. Cecily, our AmeriCorps Fellow, was able to do everything I had on my wish list but couldn’t get to because of the day to day work that I had. She created a recruitment plan, volunteer management manual (this is for staff who will be supervising volunteers), new training material for one of our programs, and updated all our volunteer job descriptions. I’m sure Cecily did a lot more than what I have listed. I will be extremely sad when Cecily leaves in August but feel that she has given us a solid foundation to work from.

The program has already helped us accomplish things we never had time for before. In just three months, Brenna has set up volunteer recruitment procedures and processes that will support our clients and our organization for years to come.
